      Character: Hermes
      Canon: FFXIV
Canon point: Shortly post-Ktisis Hyperboreia dungeon events.
      OU or AU?: OU
Age: Unknown except really old. The ages of the Ancients in Endwalker are not specified but from in-game context it would not be amiss to guesstimate at least a few hundred years for the younger ones.
Species: Ancient, the first race on Etheierys. They were humanoid and both very tall and talented in creation magics. He will be resized accordingly so probably roughly in the 6’+ range.

      Disposition:
      • Inventive & Reliable: He was able to create Kairos, a device that could erase memories and alter memories of an individual or a localized area. As head of Elpis and highly recommended for the seat of Fandaniel by his predecessor, it goes without saying that he was competent and evidently his own creations garnered some merit. He was also able to create Meteion and her sisters, new beings known as an entelechy who were essentially empaths and drew their life from Dynamis, an energy powered by emotions, as opposed to Aether.

      • Curious & Secretive: He’s always seeking answers as when he sent out Meteion’s sisters to find the meaning of life. He also started researching into the mysterious power known as Dynamis to the point of creating beings who could utilize it to visit other stars and communicate. He has a need to know things and how they work. However, on the flip-side of things, he can be secretive about things - For example the reason he created Meteion (To answer an existential question he had) and the fact that he created her sisters as well for the same reason and sent them to other stars. Also the fact that Meteion and the other Meteia were a personal project of his that hadn’t been submitted for approval nor well-known.

      • Kind & Emotionally Sensitive: He’s kind almost to a fault - He feels strongly even when he doesn’t usually express it in company (when pushed he will absolutely let people know his feelings). He believes very much in everything’s right to live their life, flaws and all, and harbors doubts at the flippancy other Ancients can unmake “flawed” creations. Hermes was even distraught when certain creatures had to be put down because of their inherent viciousness even when it was considered necessary by his fellow Ancients. In addition, Meteion initially runs away from him when she receives the reports from her sisters, knowing that Hermes would be saddened and upset by their revelation. He also expresses doubt about the beauty of dying and returning to the aetherial sea when one’s work is done - Believing it to be a luxury afforded only to mankind. While mankind sees it as a blessing, he sees the opposite, having witnessed creatures being unmade showing fear and confusion.

      • Melancholy: Stemming from his kindness and capacity for empathy, he’s often prone to bouts of melancholy - Believing himself to be alone in his views and sad about what he views as the status quo. He rarely shows this side however and it was only through Meteion’s intervention that he confided these views to the Warrior of Light and even then it was after he witnessed the Warrior of Light demonstrate their own sorrows through flowers that reflected emotions. He also often has doubts and questions the seemingly idyllic paradise that the Ancients live in and wonders on his own nature, wondering if the doubts and fears he harbors is indicative of being some sort of aberrant personality among the Ancients.

Suitability: Hermes is suited for the game because, as a researcher at heart, he’s going to be all sorts of curious about how manna works and just generally the world and how it works. He’s not going to sit on his butt and be a hermit, rather he’ll probably be even more proactive at learning about where he finds himself. His reaction to Synchrony is probably a mix of pragmatism but also “Oh no oh no what am I doing” as he plays intimacy chicken with people and his reaction to gembond powers will definitely be one of wonder because it’s like magic back home but also super not. Should he experience the joys of transformation (Still trying to think of which one), he’s probably going to freak out at first if no one warns him and think its some sort of punishment for what he thinks is the bad thing he did (Not the one he doesn’t remember, what he thinks he remembers).

Condition upon arrival: He will arrive very shortly (possibly a few hours even) after the events of Ktisis Hyperboreia. He will be none worse for wear, albeit shaken from his experience of losing a few days worth of memories and supposedly losing his bird daughters Meteion and her sisters.

      Abilities:
      • Wind magic: In game, Hermes has an affinity with wind related magic, casting spells such as Aero and Tornado and knock back abilities. He also volunteers to aid a creature unable to fly using his magic. While they will be nowhere near as powerful in game, and would drain manna, he would at least be able to knock someone on their rear end. Maybe roll them a bit if they’re small enough.

      • Creation magic: A trait the Ancients had which was creating something from nothing. His specialty was in creating living creatures capable of flight that would be tested for their suitability on Etheierys proper before being released into the wild. Much like his wind abilities, these will be nerfed for the game. I imagine it would be manna draining and only for small things like candied apples (Nothing bigger than say an Italian Greyhound).

      • Transformed self: Hermes can take another form which he can use to do battle or anything really as he was willing to use the form to aid a creature in learning to fly. He utilized it extensively when attempting get away from Venat, the Warrior of Light, Emet-Selch, and Hytlodaeus so he could hear the reports about the meaning of life from Meteion’s sisters. While willing to use the form when needed, he’s easily chastised into refraining from it outside the previous circumstance. In this form he is also capable of flight.

Inventory: His black Ancient robes, the standard white half-mask donned by Ancients not in the Convocation, and his staff - Though he mostly utilizes it in his transformed state.

      Gembond: Emerald
Gem Location: Left shoulder; Specifically deltoid area; Looks like this.

    « MISCELLANEOUS »

Sample: Noctium January TDM right here.

Notes: He is a man who has made bad choices and does not remember them at all. But he also radiates big nerd dad energy. So it evens out.
